Korean American Peace Advocates Make Progress

A recent Bay Area article describes how members of the Korean Policy Institute are finally getting a hearing on ending the Korean war – yeah, technically we’re still at war with North Korea after more than five f**king decades - and steps in normalizing relations between the two Koreas and between North Korea and the United States.

However, they’ve had to endure years of red-baiting and slander. For example Christine Ahn, has been called “a reprehensible apologist for mass murder" in print for advocating peace with North Korea. Elaine Kim, a professor at UC Berkeley was fired from her bilingual talk show on a local station for showing images when the South Korean regime murdered their own people.

These Korean activists recently had meetings with Senate staffers. The Asia Society and a think tank has advocated for engagement with North Korea.
